SLY PARK – Drs Rademacher and Burmeister took advantage of the fall break to head up to Pollock Pines to visit the campus of the Sly Park Environmental Education Center. At Sly Park they spent several hours working with Sly Park’s newest faculty member, Dave “Gio” Giordano, who has a long and impressive history of active, hands-on science teaching, including several years working at UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science.
Together, they discussed goals that the faculty and students in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences might be able to help Sly Park acheive in the 2013-2014 academic year. Some of the exciting projects we discussed include the GIS teaching modules currently being developed by Christina Colburn (’13) and the geochemistry and GIS research being conducted by Ashely Salazar (’14).
We were excited to meet Gio – it looks like this is going to be an exciting and productive year for the collaboration between Sly Park School and Pacific!!!
